Autohuset Vestergaard gets its imported cars on a date it can count on

Autohuset Vestergaard is a dealership group based in Vejle, Denmark, selling new and used cars across its stores. Henrik Schaldemose is responsible for its imports, and Rasmus Læsø buys the cars the stores sell. A good share of that stock is bought abroad, and until a car is on the forecourt it earns nothing.

The problem was never finding the cars. It was getting them to Denmark fast enough. Wherever in Europe a car was bought, the lead time from purchase to arrival at a store was long, and hard to predict.

Vestergaard chose Bahn on a promise: a fixed delivery time for every car. They tried the concept on real purchases before committing, and it held. Bahn's average is 36 hours from Germany to Denmark and 72 hours from France.

Early in the collaboration, one car settled the question. A vehicle in southern Europe had stood for 14 days without the original carrier collecting it. Bahn picked it up and had it in Denmark two days later.

For a dealership, speed matters most as reliability: the stores need to know when a car lands so they can prepare it and sell it. With Bahn, an order comes with a date, and the date holds whether it falls on a Wednesday or a Saturday.

Every order is created and followed in the portal, and the legal documents, including the CMR, are stored there with it. Cars travel driven on their own wheels or on a trailer, and every car in transit is insured for up to 100,000 euros excluding tax.
